5th Annual Montrose Invitational Classic Car Show!
When is a car show not a car show? When it's the Fourth Annual Montrose Invitational Classic Car Show, of course. Those familiar the flood of community car shows taking place in every local town, are in for a special treat. And those who attended last year's event, known among local car enthusiasts as the "Montrose Invitational," know what this auto exhibit is all about.
What you won't find at the Montrose Invitational are the same vehicles you've seen at every community car show in town. You won't see fifteen 1966 Mustangs or twenty-five GTOs. What you will see is what many consider to be the best of the best. Pierce-Arrow, Franklin, Rolls-Royce and Packard are the standard here. The emphasis is on getting the best vehicles available not the largest number of cars. The owners of these classic vehicles are the invited guests of the Montrose Shopping Park Association which sponsors this unique event.
Also, featured at the Montrose Invitational are classic names, such as Corvette, T-Bird, Model-A, Lincoln, Porsche and Cobra. All vehicles on display are original stock automobiles without modifications. A favorite from previous years, making a return visit, is a beautifully restored 1930s Rolls-Royce which was literally pulled out of the sand in Egypt by camel with a nest of chickens roosting inside.
The day will also include the return of jazz favorites "The Martini Kings," as well as the house band for the Montrose Harvest Market "Gremoli New Orleans Jazz Band." Added musical fun will also be provided by local group "Misplaced Priorities." The musical groups selected for this show, like the automobiles on hand, represent the breadth of music from the 1920s through the 1960s with everything from Dixieland to Bee-bop Jazz to 1950s lounge music to surfer style rock.
Anchoring the event will be the Montrose Harvest Market, including the Montrose Bounce Company, Heavenly Hand-led Pony Rides and the Thieves' Market, featuring collectibles and memorabilia. The Montrose Invitational Classic Car Show will be in the 2300 and 2400 blocks of Honolulu Ave. in the Montrose Shopping Park from 9 AM - 2 PM, Sunday, September 25.
