Spooktacular

Who knows what devilish fun lurks in the shadows of Montrose after dark? The Montrose Shopping Park Association hopes the public will drop by to find out. The annual Montrose Halloween Spooktacular will weave its magic in the 2200 block of Honolulu Ave. on Halloween night, Monday, October 31, from 5:00 PM until 9:00 PM.

This perennial favorite, cosponsored by the City of Glendale Department of Parks, Recreation and Community Services, is a true family event full of traditional tricks and treats as well as a few surprises. From 5:00 PM until 9:00 PM, the Montrose Shopping Park Merchants will give out candy in their stores throughout the Shopping Park.

Carnival Style Game Booths with prizes and the Costume Photo Booth will return by popular demand. Costume contests will take place from 6:00 PM until 8:00 PM in front of The Paper Rabbit with "sign-ups" at 5:00 PM. Categories for the costume contests will include Spooky, Cute, Most Original and Family.

And what would a spooky Halloween be without the Montrose Magic Show featuring "The Wizard Bruce?" The Montrose Magic Show will be presented at 6:00 PM. A Pet Parade and Pet Costume Contest will be held at 7:00 PM with "sign-ups" at Andersen's Pet Shop or the Glendale Humane Society. Free goodie bags will be provided to all participating pets.

This year's "Spooktacular" will also include food booths and rides, so plan to bring an appetite for fresh tamales, roasted Hawaiian Chicken, hot popped Kettle Corn and delicious Mexican entrees and then bounce the night away on a two-story slide, a 40' obstacle course and a magic bounce castle. The Montrose Shopping Park Association invites everyone to get into the spirit of this safe and supervised event and spend Halloween in the Montrose.
